STAFF REPORT ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has designated Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali as Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication.
Earlier, Assef had served the country as Federal Education Minister. However, he has been handed over the charge of MoIT after his ministry has been dissolved.
In his tenure, Assef had been under fire as minister on the issue of fake degrees. He continued to challenge the functions and mandate of HEC and NA Committee on Education for their action against fake degree holding MNAs and MPs.
Earlier, Sardar Latif Khosa was deputed as Minister In-charge of the IT Ministry, who retained the portfolio for a brief period of five months amid serious tussles with the bureaucracy of the ministry.
