STAFF REPORT ISLAMABAD: The HEC has compiled information about PhD degrees awarded by Pakistani universities since 1947.
The Directory provides information on scholar’s name, subject/discipline, title, year of degree awarding, supervisor’s name and institution.
This compilation of information about research work by PhD scholars at Pakistani varsities has become possible due to the cooperation of all public and private sector higher education institutions.
The PhD records since 1930 (25 PhD records produced before 1947 by the Punjab University) have also been enlisted in the PCD. In October, the total number of PhD degrees recorded in the PCD was 6,560.
Moreover, the Pakistan Research Repository (PRR), an online repository website, is maintaining a digital archive of all the PhD theses produced indigenously to promote intellectual output of Pakistani institutions at the international level. The repository is currently holding more than 2,800 full-text theses, whereas, more than 800 theses are in the process of digitisation, while 200 are being uploaded.
