STAFF REPORT KARACHI: UK Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell visited an out of the Telenor easypaisa here last week and appreciated. On the occasion, and Deputy Governor of State Bank, and CEO Tameer Microfinance Bank Nadeem Hussain were also accompanied him.EasyPaisa is a project started by Telenor Pakistan for providing mobile banking services to the people. In a very short time, easypaisa has gained much value.On the occasion, the UK Secretary of State said: “In Pakistan more than half the adult population, and two-thirds of women, do not have bank accounts or access to financial services. That’s why the UK supported the use of innovative mobile phone technology.”CEO Tameer Microfinance Bank Nadeem Hussain said that enabling regulatory environment and international donor support are the cornerstones for success of mobile financial services in Pakistan.
