Cosmic Science can build a better Pakistan

KNOWLEDGE AND literacy is the key to success of any developed nation in this world. We though claim to have a literacy rate of 49.9%, but only few of us know that the said percentage is based on the number of people who can merely either read or write their own name, which means that the actual literacy rate in Pakistan falls between 7 to 10 percent.

Moving ahead into 21st century, we need a nation of educated and successful youngsters in the field of Science & Technology, but currently Pakistan has fewer students being trained as scientists and doctors while scientific education in Europe and other Asian countries like Japan, China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, etc. are on the rise. The amount of science being taught at the educational level across the country is dangerously dropping. Science in our country is clearly taking a back seat to the other occupations such as business, sports, and other disciplines.

It is obvious that if we demand for a better Pakistan then its not only government who is considered to put its efforts to build a nation of educated youngsters, but a group of able and educated people should also contribute not only its resources but their education as well, to achieve an ever increasing target.

Having a survey of books for growing children available in market, we found that Ayesha Khan, an energetic young teacher from Lahore, has introduced a succession of books for toddlers. During her experience of teaching, Ayesha Khan found that traditional methods of basic teaching are though helpful, but they also put lot of burden over the growing children, and consequently a sufficient number of tiny toddlers lose their interest in education. Putting her best efforts, Ayesha Khan has successfully launched “Muneeb Series - Cosmic Science”, which is specially designed and written for the children of Class 0 to 4. Regardless of other books available in the market, “Cosmic Science” has used a non-traditional method of teaching.

If we look at the contents of first book of the series, i.e. “Cosmic Science 0”, a child of age 4 to 5 years with his initial abilities, can learn about the Weather, Colors, Personal Hygiene, Senses, Body Parts and lot of other things, with such an easy method that has not often been used in Pakistan.

In the second book of this series (Cosmic Science 1), few additional things are added to enhance the knowledge of growing children. Its contents include Food Energy, Environment, Earth and Space, Material and Movement & Force etc, while in the contents of next book, i.e. “Cosmic Science 2”, a child, on one hand, can have detailed studies of the topics of Book 0 & 1, and on the other hand, can have an introduction of Vertebrates & Invertebrates, Electricity & Magnet and Moon & Starts, etc.

Remaining 2 books of the series, i.e. “Cosmic Science 3 & 4” contain useful topics like Life Sequence & Compatibility with Environment, Matter and its Qualities, Structure of the Earth, Continuity of life and many other fields of studies which are not only a “Must Learn” for children’s’ future studies but also are useful for their daily life.

Easy language and innovative sequence of topics make these books a useful tool for those parents who are willing to provide best general and scientific knowledge to their growing children.
