Sticking to the IT world

Zia Ul Haque has been associated with Jaffer Brothers (Private) Limited (JBL) for the past 22 years and has served in different management capacities. Currently he is working as Director Operations at JBL

Why did JBL select Oracle as partner?

Zia Ul Haque: Initially we ventured into software development ourselves and established a software house and worked on several projects. Later on we realized that it might prove to be a better option to go for a standard, off-the-shelf solution from a company having experience in the global market, instead of reinventing the wheel. The company was ‘Oracle’.

What makes your company distinguished from the others Oracle partners?

The foremost thing about us is that we do not compromise on the quality and this itself gives us the distinction. The main edge that we have is that we are a local company representing world renowned vendors. Whatever assignment/task we take on, we give our customers the confidence that we will take it to its logical conclusion and complete it to their satisfaction. Secondly, we optimize the solution in terms of providing both, Oracle software and HP hardware in accordance with the demands of the customers and this is where we excel.

How do you see the future of IT in Pakistan?

The penetration of IT in Pakistan’s scenario is relatively slow but I believe it has a bright future in almost all organizations. The reason behind is that there is a gradual but steady rise in the adoption of IT into the respective environments of such organization, whatever field they may be in. Now IT has become the enabling platform in almost all the fields we operate in.

How do you see the brain-drain from Pakistan?

It is no doubt a big problem. I must tell you that there is great talent in Pakistan. Unfortunately, the current situation in Pakistan has led to the brain-drain. As far as our organization is concerned, we train the employees extensively, besides constantly trying to improve the working environment.

How is your personal experience with the Jaffer Brothers?

I have been working with Jaffer Brothers now for the last 20 years. Before joining Jaffer Brothers I was in US. This organization gave me a platform to use all my expertise and over the years we have grown from strength to strength. During the years, we had to face many challenges. However by the grace of Almighty we managed to overcome them successfully and came out even more resilient to move forward with confidence. In-short, it has been a wonderful experience working with JBL.

The penetration of IT in Pakistan is relatively slow but I believe it has a bright future in almost all organizations.
