STAFF REPORT ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Dr Muhammad Afzal has emphasized that agricultural scientists and experts should focus their attention to meet the emerging challenges of food security and resource degradation.
He said this while talking to CIMMYT’s Country Representative in Pakistan Dr Richard W Ward who has recently joined CIMMYT office.
The CIMMYT operates under the aegis of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) towards its mission to server the poor in the developing country.
“International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) is playing a signification role at the global level to boost productivity of maize and wheat in the world,” Dr Muhammad Afzal said.
He said that next Rice-Wheat Consortium meeting, which will be held in Pakistan, would boost Pakistan’s perspective for development of agriculture sector.
