THE ALIGARH Institute of Technology (AIT), Karachi was established in 1989 with the efforts of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association.
It is planned to be a big Polytechnic institute for boys and girls to provide, in phases, theoretical and practical courses of instructions in a number of technologies leading to the Diploma of Associate Engineers (DAE) of Sindh Board of Technical Education.
The courses in Electronics Technology and Computer Science were started in 1989. The course in Secretarial Technology was introduced from the session beginning from July 1991. A Certificate course of Proficiency in Word Processing was introduced in the session 1995.
Education and training in Electronics has, therefore, been introduced in a big way in almost every country of the world.

The increasing demand to combat the most fatal scourge of humanity i.e. the disease , have prompted to start this course. This course will also fulfill the aspirations of those unfortunate students who could not study the medical science at an appropriate time and are now willing to join, at a later stage , a course in the health sector. In this way they, as Associate Engineer in Bio-Medical Technology, will become essential component of a highly notable profession.

The Aligarh Old Boys Association has been making consistent efforts to assess the futuristic needs of Technical Education in Pakistan.
