MobileMonday Karachi Seminar


MOBILEMONDAY (MoMo) Karachi in collaboration with Super Technologies Foundation organized a seminar at the JPSD Conference Hall. The theme of the seminar was “Impact of mobile phones in Pakistan”. The seminar brought together prominent community leaders, distinguished academics, and mobile visionaries besides developers and individuals to discuss the current burning topics surrounding the mobile industry.  The founder Rehan Allahwala, President of Super Technologies Inc. presented information at the seminar on the prevailing situation in the country and the importance of mobiles in theregion. MobileMonday provides a neutral venue for mobile visionaries, developers and individuals to share ideas, discuss trends, and network for the benefit of the entire mobile sector. MoMo represents how a true industry should perform – it’s not about selling, pitching or regulating, it is just about helping the mobile community at large.

The people speaking aren’t representing their companies, just talk about their personal convictions; their sole purpose is about sharing what they know, so that others can learn from their success or even their failures. Biggest benefit of MoMo is that the membership is free, as it should be.Five speakers shared their views on Impact of Mobile Innovation in Pakistan. Zia Imran, Managing Director of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), talked about the explosive growth of e-commerce and what it means for today’s world.
He recently spearheaded the development of both the mobile app and mobile web versions of country’s highly successful online delivery platform. He mentioned “With cheaper Android smart-phones, more engaging mobile web experiences, and more options for online payment, we will see significant growth in e-commerce over the next couple of years.”Syed Shariq Shah who heads GSM at LG Electronics talked about fast networks, powerful devices and affordable plans, sharing whatever you’re doing from wherever you are is becoming more and more widespread.
Dr. Zsuzsanna Fajcsak from Hungary currently visiting Pakistan discussed the pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages, merits and demerits of making mobile phones available to the masses. Now it’s time to recapture that edge. Mobile internet is the next revolution which is within the grasp every Pakistani. Asif Jafri, Director E.Ocean gave an overview of mobile advertising possibilities. He pointed out the areas that can make mobile a successful environment for brand advertising.
Every member of the ecosystem, including the users themselves, should be collaborative engines for innovation. MobileMonday is the platform for such activities.The Chief Guest of the occasion Noman Saigal, Provincial Minister for Information Technology praised the efforts of Rehan Allahwala in providing a useful platform for exchange of ideas by corporate managers, entrepreneurs, developers, analysts and the media in Pakistan. The audience represented a wide and deep slice of the Pakistan-focused wireless community and includes professionals from telecom carriers, handset makers, technology vendors, researchers and developers.
The caliber of presenters at the seminar was remarkable and many new ideas were mentioned regarding MobileMonday strategies. The audience was greatly interested in the question and answer sessions held after every panel, and many important inquires into the speaker’s research were discussed.Overall, the seminar was a huge success and many important topics regarding the mobile were presented in front of a large audience. The topics ranged from basics of the technology to advanced and potential blueprint for successful functioning.
