Easypaisa posts record money transfer


STAFF REPORT ISLAMABAD: The Telenor’s Easypaisa service has been witnessing significant growth in its utility because of its increasing credibility, security and rapid facility of point-to-point transfer of money facility, showing an achievement to cross Rs 30 billion benchmark in just 19 months.“Over 8.5 million numbers of transactions have been carried out with total amount of Rs 30.3 billion from October 2009 to May 2011,” revealed Anjum Rahman, Telenor’s Spokesperson.
She said that the Easypaisa is well on way to shaping the financial future of the country but the need of the hour is to educate and create awareness about the socio-economic benefits of mobile financial services in Pakistan.Anjum said that the Easypaisa service showed accelerated pace in its usage by customers as showed by its brief past record.

Telenor’s mobile-banking recorded Rs 10 billion money transfer in its first year of service completion in October 2010. It recorded a handsome growth of transaction value by 70 percent to reach Rs 17 billion in next three months. Recently, it showed nearly 80 percent growth in money transfer amount in the past four months from January to May 2011. In an estimate, Telenor Easpaisa service registered Rs 1.5 billion monthly money transfer with 0.55 million number of transactions, she added.
