ECO Science Foundation to be completed soon

STAFF REPORT ISLAMABAD: The ECO member states are establishing the ECO Science Foundation, whose head office is proposed at Islamabad. Most of the work on the project has been completed and the ECO Science Foundation (ECF) will start working in near future.

“Pakistan Science Foundation’s major objective is to promote S&T research for socio economic development of the country. It is providing a bridge between researchers at the universities/R&D organization and the industry,” PSF Chairman Dr. Manzoor Soomro informed Yahya Maroofi, Secretary General, ECO, who heading a delegation called on him during his visit to the PSF head office here last week.

On the occasion, they were given a detailed presentation about the Ministry of Science and Technology and its attached departments highlighting their functions and achievements.

Dr. Manzoor emphasized that the MoST is trying to make best possible use of indigenous scientific and technological research and development for socio economic development of the country.

He explained the paradigm of research funding at PSF and its role as catalyst among the stakeholders. Emphasizing on the science popularization activities, he informed that PSF is engaged in promoting science awareness among the masses, especially the rural ones through Science Fairs, Traveling Expos and Mobile Science Caravans.
