NCP making efforts to end scientific isolation of Pak researchers

STAFF REPORT ISLAMABAD: As part of its efforts to break the ‘scientific isolation’ of local researchers, the National Centre for Physics (NCP) has organized an international conference which concluded on Friday last.

“The conference titled ‘International Scientific Spring’ will help in promoting science and research in all parts of the country, especially in the less privileged universities,” NCP Director General Dr. Hamid Saleem commented on the occasion.

He said that main aim of this activity was to disseminate knowledge and work at national level and to unveil the facilities present at NCP. The activity focused on the core areas of physics and its related fields like cosmology, condensed matter physics, particle physics, laser, atomic and molecular physics, nanosciences, and plasma physics, he maintained.

The NCP director general said besides local eminent scientists, internationally known physicists from developed and developing countries would also give lectures on advanced topics of current international research interests.

More or less 350 researchers from universities and research institutes have participated in the conference. He said foreign participants from countries like China, Japan, Italy and Brazil have also attended the conference to contribute to the activity to establish and promote collaborations.

Industrial exhibitions, short courses on specific topics, exhibitions of equipment manufactured in national laboratories and other academic programmes would be included in the next scientific springs, he disclosed.http://www.technologytimes.pk/mag/2011/march11/issue01/ncp_making_efforts_to_end_scientific.php
