COMSATS INTERNET Services (CIS) is the pioneer ISP of Pakistan when it brought Internet services to the country for the first time in 1996. After 15 years of dedication, hard work, and service to both consumer and corporate customers, CIS is respected and recognized as a quality ISP in the country. At present, CIS has operations in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, and Sialkot. These brands include Freedom, Tornado, Hawaii, Hurricane, Comtrain, and Viacon.

Freedom is a Wi-Fi DSL service which enables users to create a hotspot at home or at work. With Freedom, users can use Internet anywhere within their home or workplace giving them true freedom. Also, downloads are unlimited. Freedom comes in different flavors including 512 kbps, 1 mbps, and 2 mbps unlimited packages. Freedom comes with monthly, semiannual and annual packages starting as low as Rs. 849 per month. Hence, CIS is the first ISP to offer 6-month and 1-year broadband packages in Pakistan. Freedom is being offered in Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Sialkot, and Faisalabad at present.

Hawaii is a high quality, affordable and reliable domain registration and web hosting service. CIS has a tier-2 data center with both Windows and Linux servers backed up by multiple generators and UPSs. Main hosting services are Shared hosting, Co-location, and Virtual Private Server (dedicated hosting). Hawaii starts from as low as Rs.1100 per year. Hawaii offers many hosting packages ranging from 50 MB to 20 GB to give customers the flexibility to pick and choose a package they like.

CIS is the first ISP to offer on-demand broadband, Hurricane, in Pakistan. This wireless broadband service gives the customer the flexibility to pay on a per event basis. Hurricane is an ideal service for seminars, conferences, exhibitions, trainings, weddings, and short events. Hurricane offers both daily and weekly packages based on customer requirement. Hurricane is available in all cities where CIS has operations.

Tornado is a long range wireless broadband service from CIS. Distances can be as far as 50 kms and throughput as high as 100 mbps. Tornado offers point to point and point to multi point wireless links using reliable wireless equipment from UBNT USA. Tornado has packages defined for CIR speeds ranging from 1 Mbps to 20 Mbps. Tornado is an ideal service for corporate and governmental organizations. CIR packages start as low as Rs. 9900 per month. In addition to CIR packages, Tornado offers shared packages also at less than half the price for CIR. Tornado is available in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, and Sialkot.

Businesses can save a lot on travel, costs, and time by using video conferencing for meetings between distant offices. Viacon is a video conferencing service from CIS at its headquarters in G-5/2 Islamabad. For this facility, a video conferencing studio has been designed. Polycom VSX7000 equipment is used for the video conferencing service. A dedicated speed of 1Mbps (CIR) provides a high quality video stream without any jitters. The video conferencing facility is available in Islamabad and more cities will be added shortly.

CIS has trained more than 2000 networking professionals since its inception in 1996. CIS conducted many training courses for students and professionals at its headquarters in Islamabad. CIS will be re-launching training courses in areas like Training for CCNA, Training for MCSE, Linux / Solaris Systems Administration, Software development in Java, PHP, MySQL, Web Development, and Project Management. Training will be provided to the participants via theory and practical exercises. The venue for training courses will be CIS Headquarters in G-5/2 Islamabad. Course fees will vary depending on length and complexity of course starting from Rs. 9,900 per participant. Discount is available for a group of five or more participants.
